Dr. Jacob Barr, Physical Therapist
Dr. Jacob Barr (PT, DPT, MTC, CEAS, CHT, CKTP, TPI Certified), graduated from Seabreeze High School where he played baseball. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise & Sports Science from the University of Florida followed by his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. He has worked as a Physical Therapist in the area since 1999 and opened his private practice, Barr & Associates Physical Therapy, in 2008. His is a certified Manual Therapist, Hand Therapist, Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Kinesio Tape Practitioner and Titleist Performance Institute provider.
He is also certified in the use of the Functional Movement Screen and Fundamental Capacity Screen, which are both available for appointment at the Volusia Sports Center.
FIRST:
THE FUNTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREEN
This screening identifies any limitations with functional mobility and/or stability. You will receive detailed screening results along with instruction in exercises to improve any deficits.
It has been researched/validated and is used by many professional sports, including National Football League, Major League Baseball, as well as college athletic programs.
SECOND:
THE FUDAMENTAL CAPACY SCREEN ANALYSIS
(Only to be done after a Functional Movement Screen has been performed)
This screening identifies any limitations with upper/lower body movement control, impact control, power, and postural control as related to athletics.
Detailed reports are provided with screening results along with instruction in exercises to improve any deficits.
Screening is extremely valuable in improving athletic performance as well as potentially preventing injury.
Screenings take approximately 60 minutes and can be done onsite at the Volusia Sports Center by clicking the booking link below.
